Gap Measurement Systems
Two very thin capacitive non-contact displacement sensors are mounted on either side of the core looking up and down at a grounded target and returned to a Gapman®Gen3 to create a portable electronic feeler gauge. This wand thickness is dependent upon the minimum gap and the sensor diameter is chosen proportional to the maximum range.
Capacitec dual flexible polyimide wands come in very thin thicknesses down to 0.006” (150 microns). These wands can also survive temperatures at 250°C continuous and at 300°C for short term for high temperature applications.
Our Spring Contact gap wands are as thin as 0.012” (304 microns) and are used when one or both sides of the target gaps are nonconductive, or the customer does not want to ground the targets.
Since the mid 1980's Capacitec has been supplying non-contact capacitive gap sensors and systems to the Aerospace, Coating & Extrusion, Extreme Environment, Elevated Temperature/Cryogenic, Power Generation and Semiconductor markets.
